February 19, 2021: COVID-19 Update

After careful consideration and consulting with our local public health agency and our medical director, The New Homestead has decided that the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) positivity rates more accurately reflect the current positivity rate and trend in our community. 

Therefore, we will be using the IDPH 14 day positivity rate going forward.  Therefore, we are so very excited to report that we will be able to hold indoor scheduled visits again!  Indoor scheduled visits can be conducted as long as the facility has not had any positive cases of COVID-19 in the past 14 days, staff or resident; and the county positivity rate remains below 10%. 

Visitors will be asked screening questions upon entry, temperature taken and asked to wear a face mask at all times.  Visitors will be expected to maintain 6 feet social distancing, remain in the designated visiting area and refrain from any physical contact during the visit.

Compassionate and end of life visits will continue as they have been.
