The New Homestead is hosting a TRUNK or TREAT this year for Halloween! Since we just recently got the mask mandate lifted, we are going to continue to be cautious with exposure inside the building.  We thought this would be a great way to ease back into our normal Halloween/holiday traditions.  We’d really love families to sponsor a “trunk” where your loved one could help hand out candy in our spooktacular parking lot.  We are going to set up the West parking lot with staff and family’s vehicles decked out for the ghoulish holiday!

We have staff signed up to decorate their trunks and would love to have families do the same!  All you have to do is let us know so we can assign you a spot!  We plan to have as many residents come outside to participate as possible (weather permitting), so let us know if you’d like your loved one outside with you as well.

Monday, October 31st
6:00 – 7:00pm
West parking lot of The New Homestead

Parking lot will be closed to the public starting at 5:30pm.  If you are signed up to participate, please be in the parking lot by 5:30pm.  The public will park up top of the hill in the Independent living area and walk down the hill to the trunk or treat.

We will have a refreshment area set up under the awning with additional residents set up to hand out candy as well.

To sign up to participate in the Trunk or Treat:

Reply back to this email confirming and let us know what type of vehicle you will be using.  Car, SUV, pickup.  If you’d like your loved one with you, please plan to be setup a little early so staff can help get your loved one to your spot and situated before the public starts.  Please provide your own candy to hand out.

If you have questions, please email mborgeson@thenewhomestead.org or call 641-332-2204 and ask for Melissa Borgeson.

Thank you!
